WINDHAM — The Windham Board of Education has appointed its next superintendent of schools. Dr. Iris Gomero will take over the position on July 1.

“As a first-generation high school and college graduate – and the first in my family to earn a doctorate – I know firsthand the transformative power of education,” Gomero said. “My parents, who had limited access to formal education, instilled in my siblings and me the conviction that education could open up new worlds of opportunity and change the trajectory of our lives. Like so many families in our schools, they made the courageous decision to leave our homeland in search of opportunities they were not afforded.”

Gomero is a graduate of the 91��Ʒ Connecticut State University Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership program and superintendent's certificate program.
